What did you do before joining McChrystal Group?
I joined McChrystal Group from Alvarez & Marsal where I provided turnaround advisory services to state and local governments.
Why did you join McChrystal Group?
McChrystal was an early mover in using a leadership/human-capital focused approach to drive performance and that approach resonated strongly with my experience. Once I met the team I knew that there was no better place for me to do this impactful work and grow as a teammate myself.
What has been your proudest moment at McChrystal Group?
Seeing our incredibly talented junior teammates step up and wow c-suite executives of global firms. The unique nature of our small teams leaves nowhere for people to hide and they never fail to deliver!
What is a hidden talent of yours?
Early in my career I worked nights at the first craft cocktail bar in Cairo and had the opportunity to apprentice with some of the industry's best.

Prioritize Preparing for Internal Meetings. Your Team Will Thank You for It
How much time did you spend preparing for the last meeting with your team? If you’re like most leaders, you may have considered the agenda in advance and touched base with a chief of staff or a trusted thought partner for a pulse check…and that’s it.
Are You Wasting Money on Engagement Surveys?
Your employee engagement surveys are complete, but it takes more than simply measuring employee engagement to create outcomes. Simply put, measurement doesn’t generate change. Sure, it can identify areas of concern that need a leader's attention. Yet it does little to get to the heart of the problem: Addressing and improving the leader behaviors and connected processes that encourage true and lasting employee engagement.
Improving Engagement Through Communications
This absence of effective systems for communication, or the necessary culture of trust and transparency to support them, make it significantly harder for employees to be engaged and effective. In fact, across the teams we work with, only 62% of employees feel they have access to the information they need in order to do their jobs. Although you may be frustrated that your teams aren’t accessing and leveraging the information they could, they are most likely more frustrated than you. Our research has shown that employee engagement — their feeling of being energized by their work — increases sharply when employees agree that they have access to the information they need. Learn how to drive engagement through thoughtfully tailored communication habits and processes.
